How journalists used Twitter in three different elections?

A paper, written by Dr. Verica Rupar and me, investigating journalists use of Twitter in three New Zealand elections, has been accepted to the International Communication Association (ICA) preconference in Prague. The paper will be presented on May 24, 2018.

The paper finds that in all three examined elections – of which two national and one local – political reporters used Twitter to talk to each other. In all three data sets more than two third of the tweets produced were aimed at other journalists, so there was limited interaction between journalists and politicians or journalists and the public.
